This week, Reggie and I spent a beautiful spring day on our roof deck. He ate the plants and I enjoyed the view of the Manhattan skyline.

So sad about Prince – I admit to getting a bit teary when I heard the news. We loved 1999 as teenagers when it seemed sooooo far in the future and now it seems so far in the past.
Isn’t that the truth?! It’s hard to believe that was all so cutting edge. Now it’s nostalgic. 🙂
The loss of these icons pierces the gut. I am saddened by Prince’s loss. It’s as if a corner of my childhood and youth disappeared with his passing. If you’re interested, Jackie, I’ve featured a 1982 Rolling Stones interview with him on my site today.
I look forward to checking out Shriver’s series. It’s a new one for me.

Eye-opening! You know this kind of thing goes on, based on anecdotal evidence, but when you look at the hard numbers, it’s a bit scary how far we still have to go.

We just renovated the roof deck last year. It went from a danger zone (boards rotting and nails sticking up) to a really nice place. We have a lovely view of the city too.

And we are enjoying a long Indian Summer on our side of the world not looking towards the Autumn/fall for as long as we can.

I’m still in shock over Prince. He was such a fixture in my adolescent memories, and always will be. I love the Modern Love podcasts, and the one about the Chinese adoption was riveting. I also enjoyed the one about the woman who gave up her son for adoption. They are all so good!
Oh, yes! That Modern Love podcast was also amazing. I learned something important about compassion in the face of intense uncertainty.
